Domaine François and Julien Pinon - Vouvray
Founded in 1786, Domaine Pinon has been built up over the past seven generations and now covers 15 hectares. The vineyard is located 5 kilometres northeast of Vouvray, in the valley of Cousse. The diversity of our wine is due to the rich variety of soils (mostly clay and flint), different exposures to the sun and the age of the vines. In 1987, François PINON, a former child psychologist, took over the family business from his father. Combining traditional techniques (such as short pruning, tillage and low yields) with the latest technology, François emphasises ecologically friendly vineyards and cellar practices. He now works with his son Julien, a former urban planner.
The grape variety used by the domaine is chenin blanc, 100%. Our wines benefit from the amazing exuberance of this historic grape of the Loire Valley. Chenin blanc produces all types of white wines (stills and sparkling wines). Brut, non-dosé or demi-sec for sparkling wines and sec, demi-sec, moelleux, to great liqueur (when autumn is very sunny) for still wines. Thanks to its acidity, Vouvray is along maturing wine. Excellent living reminders of the climate, our wines all bear the marks of their vintage birth.
