Currently, it is already the 8e generation Pinon's who manages the vineyards of the estate founded in 1786. The fields are located roughly 5 kilometres northeast of Vouvray in the valley of the small river Cousse. In total, the fields cover 15 hectares and have a wide variety of soil composition. There is sand and clay in the soil but also limestone and flint in several places. They also lie quite differently in relation to the sun and there is a difference in old and younger vines of the Chenin Blanc. That overall picture means that the various wines the estate produces are all quite different in flavour despite all being made from one grape variety.

In 1987, François Pinon, originally a child psychologist, took over the family business from his father. Combining traditional techniques and new technology, the estate began to operate ecologically. François handed over the baton to his son Julien, who trained as an urban planner, to start producing their wines. This works out fine and produces wines with generally great potential for storage for those who would like to do so.
