Description
This Muscat de Rivesaltes is made by Château Les Fenals from Fitou. The family business has a progressive way of making wine, while maintaining traditions. Muscat is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. The grape is grown in almost all wine producing countries, but feels most at home in warmer climates. Wines made from Muscat grapes can vary greatly in aroma and taste. Muscat de Rivesaltes is a so called 'Vin Doux Naturel'. This means that the fermentation of the wine with alcohol is stopped before all sugars are converted into alcohol. This way the wine keeps its natural residual sugars and that gives it a rich sweetness, which makes it ideal as a dessert wine. Their Muscat de Rivesaltes is a Vin Doux Naturel with a strengthened alcohol content of 15%.
The wine is made entirely from Muscat grapes with a distribution of 60% Muscat Petit Grain and 40% Muscat d'Alexandrie. The grapes are vinified traditionally with maturation in stainless steel barrels. The Muscat wine has a very good storage potential and can be kept for 10 years. Through aging, the wine gives other scents such as caramel, nuts and raisins. The complex, expressive and rich dessert wine combines fantastic with desserts of exotic fruit and blue cheese. And at an older age it goes very well with foie gras.
Alcohol Content: 15%
