Description
Naturally within the Saint-Émilion appellation lie the fields for this Le Clos Trimoulet. A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru where the grapes come from a number of different plots totalling 10 hectares. The soil is clay-limestone and sandy. The average 40-year-old vines consist of the grape varieties Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). The grapes ferment in cement and stainless steel storage. The wine then goes for 14 months in oak barrels, a third of which are new. The Clos Trimoulet Saint-Èmilion Grand Cru comes scarlet in the glass and has a nose of berries, forest and cedar. On the palate, the wine is full and fruity from the blackcurrants with nice tannins some cassis and a hint of ink. Pour the wine at 16-17 degrees and decanting is recommended. Tastes great with red meat, a nice pasta with mushrooms, a pastry or a piece of nice cheese like Saint Albray.
