Vacqueyras Rouge 2019 - Domaine Saint Pierre
€15,75
Description
Vacqueyras is an important wine village in the southern Rhone. Its vineyards are adjacent to those of Gigondas. The wines can be characterized as slightly more elegant, leaner and less heavy than the red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but still a wine to chew on...... Super rich and can certainly age for ten years. A nice firmness with ample amounts of cherry and blackcurrant alongside licorice and spice. Intoxicatingly delicious. Do decant to let the air open the wine. Pour at 16 to 18 degrees.
The influential American wine guru Robert Parker rated Domaine Saint-Pierre's Vacqueyras as follows: 'An outstanding performance from this Domain. This Vacqueyras has a deep purple-red colour, a soft voluptuous style with wonderful ripeness, an inky thickness that really 'stands' in the glass. This thick red wine contains huge amounts of blackcurrant and notes of liquorice, spice and espresso!' Rating: 91-93 points (note: 100 points is the maximum)
Also wine magazine Perswijn selected this Vacqueyras as a topper with the words: intense and firm, black fruit, plums and figs, tasty very youthful, beautifully full and powerful.
