Vacqueyras Les Hauts de la Ponce 2015 MAGNUM - Domaine Font Sarade

A double bottle capacity. In Vacqueyras the winegrowers are allowed to choose which grapes they use as long as 50 percent of the blend is Grenache. In this Vacqueyras Les Hauts de la Ponce by Font Sarade, the Grenache is supplemented with 25 % Syrah and 25% Mourvédre to give it freshness and a nice firmness. Bernard & Clair Burle give their wine extra backbone by not de-stemming the grapes and thus allowing the tannins of the stems to enter the wine. This used to be very common and a good way to prevent wines from becoming too mature and soft. This explains the beautiful expression of this Vacqueyras. The smell is of delicious fruit, with cherries, laurel and licorice; on the palate there's blackberries, plums, nice firm tannins and freshness. Drink it with beautiful game and crumbled cheese and just below 16 degrees.
