Description
The grapes for Montagne-Saint-Èmilion from Château Chevalier Saint-Georges grow in the commune of Montagne en Saint-Georges spread over an area of 4 hectares. The soil consists of clay slopes and the grape varieties in the wine comprise 90% of Merlot and 10% of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines for the Château Chevalier Saint-Georges are on average 40 years old. The grapes ferment in cement and stainless steel cuves. Then the Montagne-Saint-Èmilion matures in oak barrels. It stands purple-red in the glass and smells deliciously of ripe red fruit and strawberry jam. On the palate, it has the necessary firmness, a light sweetness of cherry and raspberry, a little pepper and tannins. Decanting is recommended and serve at 16-17 degrees. Can go with delicious red meat, a farm salad with nuts, roquefort, sultanas and possibly ham and otherwise with older cheeses.
