Maury 2013 Domaine Montagne - Sèlection Claude Vialade

Also from the "stable" of Madam Claude Vialade comes this Maury from Domaine Montagne. A delicious little sweet red wine made from 100% Grenache that is lightly fortified with wine alcohol. The wine is super dark red and smells deliciously of blackcurrant and blackberry jam, chocolate and a stray roasted nut. The wine melts gently on the tongue like a jammy but not sweet fondant of ripe fruit. You can safely call it a little port-like. Pairs very well with blue cheese or lasagna(!) but also with chocolate cake, fruit and panna cotta. Serve slightly cool at 14-15 degrees.
