Graves Rouge 2016-Château Les Clauzots
The Graves Rouge from Château les Clauzots is a beautiful fruit-filled wine made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The grapevines are grown on gravel and clay terraces of Saint Pierre de Mons. The grapes are traditionally vinified in stainless steel vats with cold maceration before fermentation and slow alcoholic fermentation. This wine is then aged for 18 months in wooden barrels on the skins and sprigs. The Graves Rouge has a nose of black currant, strawberry and raspberry on toast. On the palate, this is a fine fruity sip with soft tannins, spiciness and vanilla notes. Nicely accessible, especially if the wine gets a little air. Serve at 16 degrees with Mexican (bean) dishes, chicken with couscous, steaks or with Camembert and Gruyère.
