Gigondas Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2016 Magnum

In the field just south of Gigondas, the old vines grow on the stony red clay for this Gigondas Rouge Vieilles Vignes. The wine contains almost 80% Grenache, a little bit of Cinsault, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvédre. The wine is a raging reddish purple. In the mouth it tastes of sour roasted ripe and spicy red fruit. The wine is nicely balanced and the freshness has been preserved. Drink at a temperature of 16 degrees and park next to just about any edible piece of firm meat but also with a plate of aubergines au gratin or a nice vegetarian curry.
