Côtes du Rhône Tradition 2019 - Domaine Saint Pierre
Grapes from over 25 year old vines go into this Côtes du Rhône Tradition. The composition consists of four grape varieties; Grenache 80%, Syrah 15% and a little bit of Carignan and Mourvédre. The special thing about the wines of Saint Pierre is that Jean-François Fauque selects the best cuvées and lets them mature for 10 to 24 months in large oak barrels. Only when the wine starts drinking, it is bottled. This Côtes du Rhône is a particularly beautiful and firm wine with a clear presence of ripe fruit. It is best to open the bottle an hour before serving and not to serve colder or warmer than 16 to 18 degrees. This wine goes well with all kinds of red meat or game and with old-fashioned braised steak or other kinds of casseroles (with or without red cabbage and apples). It is also excellent with a piece of spicy cheese.
