Cornas Aquilon Rouge 2015 - Domaine Mucyn
€34,00
Description
Cornas is one of the lesser known Crus of the Northern Rhone Crus. There are only 130 hectares of vineyards in the only commune that bears the name of its Cru. Syrah is the grape on the steep slopes of a vineyard that are dry and hot, producing very ripe grapes. Cornas therefore means 'burnt land' in Celtic. The wine is called 'Aquilon' after the wind that blows over the hills (where have we seen that before?). The Syrah matures for 18 months in wooden barrels. After that it has a dark, almost black-red hue with an explosion of red fruit in the nose and subtle hints of violets and pepper. On the palate, truffle, licorice and cooked fruit. The texture is velvety and serve OK at 16 degrees. Beautiful with red meat and always top with aged cheeses.
