Chiroubles 2020 - Domaine de Thulon
€13,75
Description
The vineyards of Chiroubles are relatively high and because of the lower average temperature, the grapes -Gamay of course- are therefore harvested a bit later in this part of the Beaujolais. The soil here is hard and in the past, planting the vines even required drilling holes in the rocky soil. The fine Chiroubles is purple-red in the glass. A slightly sweet nose with a hint of the pots of geranium that grandma let winter in the meter cupboard. Who remembers that? On the palate delicious black fruit and lots of cherries and blackberries. Power and a fresh plum with minerality and pepper. In short; Un vrai Beaujolais (a real Beaujolais). Serve at 16 degrees with a nice pasta with mushrooms, a gratinated leek dish with or without ham, a chicken pie or a steak tartare. Just cool on the terrace is of course also fine!
