Chiroubles 2020 - Domaine de Thulon
The vineyards of Chiroubles are relatively high and because of the lower average temperature, the grapes -Gamay of course- in this part of the Beaujolais are therefore harvested somewhat later. The soil here is hard and in the past, when planting the vines, people even had to drill holes in the rocky soil. The beautiful Chiroubles is purple-red in the glass. A slightly sweet nose with a hint of the pots of geraniums that grandma used to keep in the meter cupboard for the winter. Who remembers that? In the mouth delicious black fruit and lots of cherries and blackberries. Power and a fresh plum with mineral and pepper. In short, Un vrai Beaujolais (a real Beaujolais). Serve at 16 degrees with a nice pasta with mushrooms, a leek dish with or without ham, a chicken pie or a steak tartare. Just cool on the terrace, of course!
