Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2017 - Domaine Galèvan
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is made by winemaker Coralie Goumarre from organically grown Grenache Noir (80%) and Mourvèdre (20%). The chalky clay and typical rolling boulders around the grapevines that the Châteauneuf-du-Pape is known for make a wonderfully expressive wine. The wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels after fermentation. Ruby red in the glass, the nose gives off a nice spicy strawberry and candied fruit. We taste a thick non-filtered Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge with ripe cherries, strawberries and cassis, mild tannins, toast, some pepper and a hint of ink. Powerful aromas but very refined and with a long finish. Delicious with osso bucco à la Milanese, with mushrooms and croûte or with pasta, with eggplant au gratin, with rabbit with prunes, cheese or a piece of game. Serve at 16-18 degrees for a nice taste experience.
