Pinot Gris 'Casse Noisette' 2020 - Domaine Gruss
€18,50
Description
Very, very special is this Pinot Gris 'Casse Noisette' with a shelf life of 8 to 10 years! In the middle of Eguisheim is a tiny field of 50 by 80 metres, planted with Pinot Gris grapes. It is called "Backoeffele", which means "oven". The name was chosen because the field is surrounded by houses on three sides. Only the eastern side is undeveloped and that gives the sun the chance to roast and bake the Pinot Gris grapes from early morning onwards. The result is a beautiful, concentrated Pinot Gris 'Casse Noisette'. Yellow fruit, apricots and figs in the nose. Also in the taste of this white wine This returns, but with additional hints of toast. The latter is because André Gruss matures this wine for 11 months in three large old demi-muids, these are 500-litre barrels. He makes this wine in the style of the great Bourgogne wines. A pearl of a wine that, due to the location of the field, used to be allowed to be called table wine, but has now been admitted to the AOP. This Pinot Gris 'Casse Noisette' is delicious with smoked white meat, fish and sauce, lobster or fried scallops. Serve straight from the fridge and can also be served on the drinks table.
