Saint-Èmilion Le Second 2018 - Château Lagrave
The Saint-Émilion Le Second is made for 90% from Merlot grapes, for 8% from Cabernet Franc grapes and for 2% from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The grapes for this wine, as for its big brother the Grand Cru, are well selected and vinification takes place for one month in concrete vats. Maturation continues half in concrete vats and half in French oak barrels. The Saint-Émilion Le Second is dark purple with a nose of ripe red and black fruit with a hint of woody vanilla. The palate is supple black fruit with a touch of pepper, bay leaf and vanilla. Tastes great with lamb in just about any form, red meat, a country salad with cheese and nuts or with a piece of Pont l'Evêque or Cantal. Serve at 16-17 degrees and decanting helps open the wine.
