Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2018 - Domaine Tourbillon
Just a few hundred yards away from the town is the vineyard for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Vieilles Vignes with old vines and otherwise crammed with boulders and stones that hold the heat of the day for the night. The handpicked grapes used are 60% Grenache, 15% Mourvédre, 15% Syrah, 7% Cinsault and so another 3% Muscardin. The result is a super purple Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge that of course smells and tastes of red fruit and some mint and garrigue. A nice strong taste with a lot of spiciness. Of course delicious with game and strong red meat but also a white or blue cheese fits and a vegetarian bean dish idem. Serve at 16 degrees.
