Vignes Centenaires 2013 - Domaine Plo des Vents

This Vignes Centenaires is a Demeter certified wine from the 'Black Hill' as of harvest year 2014. Made from 100% Carignan and it includes vines that are more than 100 years old. The grapes are hand harvested and sorted by the Ligneres family. The fermentation takes place in old barrels and the wine ages by letting the fermented peel twigs ripen and stirring them often. Then the wine rests for 10 months in French oak. Beautiful ruby red in the glass with a fruity and ripe nose. Nuts, figs, raspberries and then fine black fruit. Full-bodied, nicely balanced with velvety tannins. Hints of spice, white pepper and coffee. Fantastic wine with charcuterie and grilled and stewed dishes or with spicy tomatoes at 16 degrees or so.
