Château Fouquet is actually a nicer name for Domaine Filliatreau. The domain is situated in Brézé, near Saumur in the Loire basin. Paul Filliatreau took over the wine estate from his father in 1967. At the time, this was not a very logical step. Becoming a winegrower was no guarantee of a good living or creating a success story. But the Cabernet Franc and Paul fell 'in love' with each other and he was one of the first vintners to work on the red variety of the Saumur-Champigny. Growing the grapes and making the wine is a family affair. Paul Filliatreau is self-taught, not afraid of experimentation, innovating and gradually buying more land to plant grapes on. As the ambassador of the appellation, Paul knows how to make many people in France enthusiastic about the wines from the Saumur appellation, and how to get those wines on the menus of Parisian brasseries. He and his team made the switch to organic cultivation back in 1998 as a completely logical step. In 2017, they then made the move to biodynamic grape growing and also made the wines Vegan.

On balance, Château Fouquet delivers a beautiful set of white and red wines with a clear signature.
